Charles J. Phelan is an original pioneer of the debt settlement industry, one of the first financial consultants to offer third-party negotiation services on behalf of consumers in the 1990s, well before the explosion in debt relief services and debt settlement programs that took place several years later.

                           The Basic Debt Settlement Programs

The core of Charles Phelan’s Do-It-Yourself Debt Negotiation Training & Coaching Program™ is the highly acclaimed audio training course, The Debt Settlement Success Seminar™, provided in a physical kit with audio CDs, computer CD-ROM, and Workbook. Containing almost 8 hours of recorded material, the content of the seminar is unique because it was written by a former insider to the debt settlement industry.  

Most so-called “do it yourself” materials are just flimsy e-books that only give part of the story. Mr. Phelan’s course is thorough and comprehensive, and consumers who listen to it are fully empowered to negotiate successful settlements with creditors, collection agencies, debt purchasers, and even collection attorneys. However, this is not just a course in debt settlement. Tools for financial self-analysis are provided so the consumer can make the most informed decision on which debt strategy to employ, and the material is filled with sound financial advice and general tips.                      The Enhanced Debt Settlement Programs

Charles Phelan is the pioneer of “DIY debt settlement with a coach.” The Enhanced Program starts with the Debt Settlement Success Seminar™ as its core training material. As with the Basic Program, a Telephone Strategy Session is included to review the client’s specific list of creditors.

There are three key enhancements over the Basic level:

A 6-month subscription to Email Coaching. This is live one-on-one coaching delivered by email. DIY debt settlement is a more successful process when the client has access to a top-notch coach. This helps to avoid snags and pitfalls along the way. The training course is very complete, but there can always be situations where timely advice is helpful.

A 6-month subscription to Document Review. Settlement letters are a crucial part of the process, and it’s helpful to have a professional review a creditor’s letter for accuracy and adequacy. This takes more stress out of the process and increases the client’s confidence level.

Access to the Member Area (6 months concurrent with Coaching). The “Top Secret” Member Area of the ZipDebt website contains important information on each of the major creditors. Instructions are provided on where to start the offers (%) and what target to aim for on the final settlement outcome.

The Enhanced Program is only $397 (plus $15 S&H), and renewable in 6-month increments ($300 per coaching extension). It is suitable for people in the following types of situations:

1. Your debt load is in the range of $20,000 to $50,000 and you are not able to keep going on minimum payments for much longer (or you have already fallen behind).

2. You have active “hot potato” accounts where you’re getting bombarded with collection activity and need some professional advice fast.

3. You’re ok with communicating by email instead of telephone.

                      The Premium Debt Settlement Programs

For higher levels of debt ($50,000 or more) and more complicated financial scenarios, the Premium Program is the best choice. As with the other program versions, the Premium Program begins with the Debt Settlement Success Seminar™ to lay the groundwork for a solid understanding of the debt settlement process. An initial Telephone Strategy Session is scheduled to review the client’s specific list of creditors and develop a game plan.

The Premium Program includes two important upgrades:

Telephone Coaching is included to supplement Email Coaching.

Telephone/Email Coaching and Document Review Subscriptions are for 12 months (rather than 6 months).

With the upgrade to Telephone Coaching, clients have real-time access to a coach. Role-playing before a negotiation call can be a huge confidence booster, and greatly improved results have been reported by clients who take full advantage of the support available with the Premium Program.

Access to the Member Area (12 months concurrent with Coaching subscription) is also included.

The Premium Program is only $777 (plus $15 S&H),  and renewable in 6-month increments @ $350 per coaching extension. It is suitable for people in the following types of scenarios:

1. Your debt load is $50,000 or more and the financial situation has become unsustainable.

2. An attorney has told you that you would have to file Chapter 13 bankruptcy and should consider debt settlement instead.

3. You prefer communicating with your coach by telephone rather than just email.
